I hope it’s just a sensor or something, didn’t seem to drive any differently and wasn’t making any noise. I’ve had a CEL come on before and then go away and not return some I’m hoping nothing is actually wrong. Going to pull the code today and find out.

Right!?

3, while I would figure it’s easy to decipher that from the photo I guess I should be aware not everyone is aware that the M3 has an “M” on the dash as well as a higher red line. For reference, this is what the gauge cluster on the M3 looks like.

Just buy a pre-obd bmw already. Can’t have a check engine light when theres no diagnostics.

Ah. Also looks like it says MOM under the M lol

I meant the “///M” on the tach. The M that is light up is because I have M mode on and MDM stands for M Dynamic Mode which is a limited version of traction control which is my setting when I depress the M mode button.

The most true and pure “FUCK” is uttered when I see that light. At least it’s in the cheaper of the two. Mines on in the M3. It’s the exhaust and intake side crankshaft position sensors...The sensors aren’t bad ($150 each) but they are in there, particularly the exhaust side. Have to go all the way to the valves so I’ll need to do a check/adjustment while I’m in there and if I’m being thorough, which I tend to be. I ought to replace the wear parts in the VANOS as well. Or pay a shop a silly amount of money to do all of that.

I was driving home and looked down and it was on and all I could think was “fuck, not again.” Guess we’ll see how serious it is today. I drove it to work fine.

I actually completely missed the big old ///M and looked at the other for the sole reason that it looked like it said MOM underneath. Color me stoopid

I feel for you. my TPMS light came on this morning, right as I was passing through a not-so-good area of Detroit. Stopped only long enough to get out and check that nothing was hissing or nearly flat and got to work only to find a drywall screw right where the tread meets the sidewall.
i.e. not repairable.

I’m not saying anything about BMWs and their reliability, but I’ve never had the check engine light come on in the 30k miles I’ve owned my now 217k mile Acura
*knocks on wood as fast as humanly possible*

In my experience, it’s only evap 1/7th of the time. It’s a good 1/7th though because gas caps are cheap (and could have been even cheaper if I just replaced the gasket).

Every time a picture of that light gets posted, an Oppo somewhere deletes a saved BMW search.

DO you know what car doesn’t have that problem ... +1 ISF.

Also the M3.

That’s because they don’t do lights for blown transmissions.
I think it was just a ghost code. I read it and cleared it this morning. See if it returns.

Since I live in SC, not an issue.

But still going to turn on the light.

True, pulled the code, doesn't seem to be that.

My Lexus had those, it’s annoying.
And transmission problems were the reason I got the TSX over the TL

Could also just mean your car is due for service/inspection soon. Knock on wood!

Nah, the integrated idrive tells me that.
